Leo W. Seal Teacher Recognition Awards totaling $7,500

5/19/2010 - The Gulf Coast Community Foundation announced today that 5 recipients were awarded grants from the Leo W. Seal Teacher Recognition Fund. The recipients are: Jeanette Baucum, Oak Park Elementary; Jill Lipski, Thomas Reeves Elementary; Amy Rogers, Purvis Upper Elementary, Biloxi High School; Roma Flowers and (back row) Jordan Roy, St. Stanislaus College Prep School.

The Gulf Coast Community Foundation Announces Grant Awards

5/12/2010 - The Gulf Coast Community Foundation and Board of Directors recently approved grants totaling over $7,000.00. These grants were made from the Pat Santucci Friends of Public Education Fund and the Roy Anderson Corp. Fund. The Roy Anderson Corporation Fund supports projects that benefit children in Hancock, Harrison or Jackson Counties.

Rotary Club of Biloxi Announces 8 Scholarship Recipients

BILOXI-MAY 6, 2010, The Gulf Coast Community Foundation announced today $6,000 was awarded in scholarships from the Rotary Club of Biloxi Scholarship Fund.

KNIGHT FOUNDATION COMMITS UP TO $1 MILLION TO GULF COAST COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

APRIL 7,  2010 BILOXI-MISSISSIPPI. The Gulf Coast Community Foundation will announce Monday, April 12, 2010 that the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation will invest up to $1 million to foster an “informed, engaged” Biloxi over the next seven years through the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

JACK A. & GERTRUDE W. WILSON ANIMAL WELFARE FUND AWARDS $60,000 GRANT TO HUMANE SOCIETY OF SOUTH MS

Gulf Coast Community Foundation grants $7,000 to United Way of South Mississippi for Alternative Spring Break

GULFPORT, MS - Gulf Coast Community Foundation granted $7,000 to United Way of South Mississippi today to provide funding for Alternative Spring Break. This year, over 70 students from all over America are scheduled to come to Gulfport from April 25 through May 3, 2010.

Presentation of the 2009 MS Coast Philanthropist of the Year

BILOXI – January 20, 2010, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation hosted the  first ever  major fundraising event “A Night in Italy” held in Hard Rock Live on Thursday, November 19, 2009.    “A Night in Italy” was an evening to celebrate philanthropy with the proceeds benefiting the Good Works Fund, a Fund of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

In addition, GCCF awarded the 2009 MS Coast Philanthropist of the Year Award posthumously to Mr. Lee William Seal, Jr. his son, Mr. Lee Seal was present to accept the award on his father’s behalf. Download press release {pdf}

Annual Meeting GCCF - 2009BILOXI – January 5, 2010, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation announced the 2010 Officers and Directors on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Ocean Springs Community Center.

During the meeting 2009 outgoing chairman Duncan McKenzie passed the gavel to the 2010 chairman Greg Cronin.  Then Greg recognized Duncan with an award for his outstanding dedication and leadership for 2009. Download Press Release {pdf}

Gulf Coast Community Foundation “pays it forward” with $10,000 American Red Cross donation to assist in Haiti Earthquake relief

GCCF pays it forward to the RC for Haiti relief

1/14/2010 - GULFPORT, MS - Gulf Coast Community Foundation donated $10,000 to American Red Cross today to “pay it forward” in earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. GCCF’s Board of Directors unanimously approved the donation at their January 13 meeting.

“Mississippi is extremely grateful to those who donated to the many causes following Hurricane Katrina to assist in our recovery,” Rich Westfall, GCCF President, stated. “This donation seems fitting considering the extreme need following the earthquake in Haiti.”

Gulf Coast Community Foundation awards over $880,000 through the Mississippi Hurricane Recovery Fund to nineteen coast entities and non-profit agencies

GULFPORT, MS - Gulf Coast Community Foundation awarded $880,992 in Grants to nineteen coast entity and non-profit agencies. A check presentation ceremony will be held January 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Knight Non-profit Center in Gulfport.

Goodworks Fund is a long-standing fund of the Community Foundation used in times of crisis. This fund is designed to help individuals as well as organizations. All granting decisions are made by the Foundation Board of Directors.
